VISION STATEMENT

Project 10 envisions lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students as fully included and affirmed in the public school environment where justice, equality, and respect for all prevail.

MISSION
Friends of Project 10 Inc. is a youth-focused nonprofit organization that supports programs, both in and out of school, which emphasize nondiscrimination and equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth. The organization produces positive and affirming LGBT youth events, conducts trainings and workshops for school personnel and community groups on LGBT youth issues, and promotes anti-harassment and nondiscrimination school policies. Friends of Project 10 Inc. works to assure that public schools (and schools receiving public funding) are in compliance with state and federal laws regarding sexual orientation and gender identity.

ADVOCACY
Project 10 works to ensure that the voices of LGBT youth are represented in school policies and practices. Project 10 provides assistance and support to students, faculty, and staff who have experienced harassment or discrimination. The Project 10 office interacts closely with the teachers union, the American Civil Liberties Union, the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center, Human Rights Watch, the Anti-Defamation League, the Los Angeles Police Department, and the Los Angeles County and City Human Relations Commissions.
